Beltaine marks the 2nd Half of the Celtic Year --One of the FOUR Celtic Fire Festivals; it is complement (6 months) to SAMHAIN November 1st. Both are a time of divination and communion with Nature Spirits, loved ones crossed over, and Fairy Folk.
The GODDESS manifests as the May Queen…

The GOD emerges as the May King, Jack in the Green…
the Green Man.
THE GREEN MAN
The MAYPOLE DANCE represents THEIR UNITY,with the pole itself being the God, and the ribbons the Goddess; colors of the rainbow spectrum.
The May Pole, a phallic symbol representing the king and spirit of vegetation, is planted into Mother Earth to symbolize union and balance.
